Total Takedown: Richard Gasquet vs. Jannik Sinner

Team Totals. It is a simple bet, one with historical data to leverage and an easy rooting interest to understand. Here, Cal TT will take you through the game of the day using wit, readily available information, and vibes. I cannot stress this enough. Data and vibes are the backbone of a team total pick.

After a brief hiatus from the team totals (more about the holiday weekend than the back-to-back heartbreakers), we are back up. As we enter the dog days of the sports calendar and hockey and hoops wind down, we are going to need to get a bit creative, get a little weird, get a little nuts. As Bruce Wayne would say, "You want to get nuts? Let's get nuts!" No, I am not talking about baseball; I am not that far off the reservation. I am talking tennis (grunt!) – to be specific, the clay of the French Open. Roland Garros, baby!

If you know nothing about tennis, then that would make two of us. I get the scoring and sets, and could name upwards of seven or eight current players. What I can tell you with supreme confidence is that betting tennis totals rules. In-match math makes for a great sweat and a fun bet, especially when the sports calendar has reduced us to a lack of action.

Despite the premise of the last two paragraphs, I am not simply throwing darts here. I got a play and an angle I like. Bet big dogs to come out strong against sleepy favorites. Today, our big dog is Richard Gasquet, an aged Frenchman who is likely making his last appearance at Roland Garros. His opponent is Jannik Sinner, a -2500 favorite who comes in ranked as the world's number 2. Sinner has had some health issues in the last year but should dominate this match. However, as a strong vibes play, Gasquet is set to just win 10.5 games. Yes it might be his last ride at the French Open but they were able to pick up a victory less than a year ago and currently have a winning record between ATP and Challendgers. If he can come out strong in the first set and sneak Sinner, the total should be a cakewalk. If Dick can even snag 5 games in the first, it should be easy to pick up. So grab your racquet and take a chance on the clay with me!

The Pick: Richard Gasquet Over 10.5 Games (-115)

The Record: 9-7
