The Winless Lottery Streak Ends
NEPTUNE, N.J. - To quote reggae tone superstar Orville Burrell, "It wasn't me." However, one Jersey Shore resident is 1.13 billion dollars richer after purchasing a Mega Millions ticket from ShopRite Wines & Spirits of Neptune, along with a pack of Parliament 100s and a pint of Canadian Club. The patron wished to remain anonymous but was kind enough to share their logic behind the 1 in 302.6 million selection of their six numbers: 7, 11, 22, 29, 38, and the Mega Ball 4.
"Uh, 7 and 11 was 'cause I went there first, but they only had short P-funks. So, you know, I came here. 22 because I am a huge Swiftie, duh. 29 for my man Gary Grillez; he died when he was 29. Rest in peace, GG. I'm gonna get another tattoo for you when this hits my account. 38 because that's my age. And 4 because I said, 'What for?' when they asked for another number. I guess you needed a gold Mega Ball or something."
This is the first winner since December 8th. They shared their intent to take the $537.5 million in a one-time payment rather than the initial payment and the following 29 annual payments, stating they wanted it "straight cash, homie" before waggling their tongue between their pointer and middle finger.
The unnamed winner refused to offer any additional details on how the winnings would be spent and seemed to be offended by the question.
