Seoul, South Korea(CB) — Late Tuesday night, the South Korean military began to notice large amounts of balloons arriving from the north. The large balloons that began to arrive appeared to contain bags that would spill trash and filth onto the streets and sidewalks of South Korea. South Korea's joint chiefs of staff suspect this is in relation to the popular practice of sending pamphlets, South Korean news articles, and even popular entertainment media to the closed-off country to give them a glimpse of the outside world. While the South Korean balloons containing this media attempt to encourage the North Korean people to rise up, the North Korean balloons seem to mostly be a disgusting nuisance aimed at grossing out the citizens of South Korea and cementing Kim Jong Un as one of the more remarkably petty world leaders.

An eye for an eye will leave the whole world blind, while a balloon with a K-pop USB drive for a balloon with a trash bag full of feces will just make me giggle. I understand from the article that this is a clever and well-executed tactic from South Korea to bring about liberation to the North Korean people and encourage an uprising. However, I also think that sending just bags of trash and used toilet paper over the border back is a very funny response. Kim Jong Un can shoot an 18 on the golf course and dunk a basketball; of course, he possessed the wit and wisdom to respond to these attempts in kind with the revenge of a scorned member of an HOA. The previously thawed tensions of the countries in 2017 and 2018 appear to have once again turned back to a full-on shitshow... or shit balloon, rather.
