Friday Night Lights: ACC Showdown
Let me address the matter right now—there are some issues I want to address. Cam Ward is an absolute stud and a legit Heisman contender. The Canes have been giving teams a hell of a time, and at no point—at no point—have opposing teams looked like they were in the game through the first four matchups of the season. They’re healthy, no swine flu on the team, and Lyle and Martinez are running like Carl Lewis. Playing against the Canes is a lot like being attacked by a bear—the way they maul you. Alright, Danny Boy Cane aside, I think you’re picking up what I’m putting down. This team is for real.
Virginia Tech @ Miami (-17.5) | O/U: 54
The Canes are hosting a .500 Virginia Tech team that came into the season with high hopes, only to have them quickly dashed by Vanderbilt (who are playing better than their history). They also just lost to a feisty Rutgers team at home. If they’re hoping to get right at Hard Rock, they are sorely mistaken. The Canes are averaging 51.25 points scored per game with a high of 62 and a low of 41. While Virginia Tech’s defense has been acceptable, allowing only 22.27 points per game, they haven’t exactly played world beaters (ODU, Marshall, Rutgers, Vanderbilt). Combine that data with the Canes’ desire to destroy opponents, and I love the U to score at least 36 tonight. For those Canes in my corner, thank you, God bless you, and GO CANES!
The Pick: Miami TT 35.5 (-115)
