Total Takedown: Mavericks at Timberwolves'
Team Totals. It is a simple bet, one with historical data to leverage and an easy rooting interest to understand. Here, Cal TT will take you through the game of the day using wit, readily available information, and vibes. I cannot stress this enough. Data and vibes are the backbone of a team total pick.
JB for three!! After an abysmal fourth quarter for the Celtics (only 23 points after scoring 30+ the first three), Jaylen Brown's game-extending/saving three took us over the 115.5. The Pacers played their style of ball, and until the 4th when the Celtics got a bit stagnant, they matched the pace. The first game was fun, and as predicted, this series is going to be a bit more exciting than folks thought.
Another series that is going to be a more competitive than the media is giving credit is the Mavs/Wolves. After beating the reigning champs, Minnesota and Anthony Edwards have become America's darling, but the best player in that series is still Luka. Let's head out to the Target Center and break down tonight's T-Wolves total of 105.5.
The Timberwolves wrapped up their last series in a thrilling game seven on the road. While the Mavs put away this young Thunder team in the final seconds of game six at home. Despite having one day more of rest and one game less played in the semis, overall Dallas has played 12 postseason games to Minnesota's 11. In Dallas's six road games, they are letting up an average of 102.3. Over this postseason, they are letting up an average of 103.16. Meanwhile, this Minnesota team comes in scoring 107.41 at home and 108.36 overall in the postseason.
So what can these numbers tell us about tonight's Wolves team total? Seemingly an unstoppable force (Minnesota offense) against an immovable object (Dallas defense). However, when you consider some of those Dallas defensive numbers came from a depleted Clippers team, I am going to go ahead and take the home team to be closer to their offensive average rather than the visiting team's defensive avg. I suspect the home crowd will be rocking in their first trip to the Western Conference Finals in 20 years. Minnesota Timberwolves over 105.5
The Pick: Minnesota Timberwovles over 105.5 (-120)
The Record: 9-5
