Total Takedown: Pacers at Celtics

Team Totals. It is a simple bet, one with historical data to leverage and an easy rooting interest to understand. Here, Cal TT will take you through the game of the day using wit, readily available information, and vibes. I cannot stress this enough. Data and vibes are the backbone of a team total pick.

After a scoreless first, I felt like I had let the people down. Following a three-goal second period, I believed myself to be a genius. At the conclusion of a scoreless third, I realized much like Jon Snow leaving Ygritte, I knew nothing. I do know something though... I know how the Pacers' offense has fared in the postseason. So let's move past the Oilers and onto spilling some scores for game one of the Eastern Conference Finals.

The Indiana Pacers are coming off a historic game seven in New York just two days ago and headed to Boston to see a team that has not played in almost a week. The current projected team total for the Celtics is 115.5, which is a score they have only eclipsed in 2 of their 10 games this postseason. Meanwhile, this is a Pacer team that finds defense about as appealing as a full Brazilian on their booty hole. However, despite the aversion to defense, you would be surprised to learn they have let up more than 115 points in just 4 of their 13 games. In fact, the Pacers' team averages 110.76 points allowed to opponents in the postseason, while the Celtics are scoring just an average of 108.1. So there it is, all the data you need to make an informed pick on the Celtics' team total tonight...

Still reading? Good, because I am still writing, and this, to me, is the vibes play of the week. The Celtics and Pacers met 5 times this season, and in 4 of those meetings, the Celtics eclipsed 115. They played two teams who did their best to stop the Celtics' scoring in the Heat and The Cavs. Rick Carlisle is not interested in playing any other style of ball than Pacer ball, which is run and gun. I expect the Celtics will be up for the challenge and see them scoring closer to their regular season average (120.6) than their postseason average (108.1). Data be damned. Celts are coming out hot tonight and matching the offense style of their opponent to the tune of 120-ish. Celtics Team Total 115.5 Over (-120).

The Pick:  Celtics Team Total 115.5 Over (-120)
The Record: 8-5
