Total Takedown: Rangers at Hurricanes

Team Totals. It is a simple bet, one with historical data to leverage and an easy rooting interest to understand. Here, Cal TTs will take you through the game of the day using wit, readily available information, and vibes. I cannot stress this enough. Data and vibes are the backbone of a team total pick. It's time to step outside our comfort zone a little bit this evening. Everyone is aware "Cal Knows Ball". I am a ball watcher through and through. But come April, Cal does a little puck too. So we are taking our talents to the NHL and specifically PNC Arena to evaluate the NY Rangers in their first road game of the series. The Rangers' Team Total is currently at 2.5 (-105).

The Presidents' Trophy-winning NY Rangers are a wagon. Sweeping a Capitals team that many say got in with a fake ID. In their first four games, they averaged 3.75 goals. In the last two, they have managed to put up 4, making their playoff goal average 3.83, up from 3.39 in the regular season. Their opponent is a Hurricanes team that also had a relatively easy first round, gentleman sweeping the lowly Islanders while allowing 2.89 goals (up from 2.39 in the regular season). Looking at the goal averages in the postseason and leaning into the wagon vibes of this Rangers team, I believe they can put up at least 3 goals this evening.

The Pick: Rangers Team Total Over 2.5 (-105)

 Record: (3-0)
