Wiener Rolls
OAK BROOK, Ill. (CB) — Monday morning on Interstate 294 just outside of Chicago, there was a catastrophic accident involving one of the six Oscar Mayer Wienermobiles. Attempting to ketchup to a vehicle, the Wienermobile driver was unable to cut the mustard and struck a car, causing the vehicle to lose control and roll onto its side. While typically the hot dog-shaped cars bring a great deal of joy to onlookers, the scene left nothing to relish as the wiener wagon steamed, closing a lane for several hours before being hauled away on a flatbed.
Fortunately for the frankfurter, it avoided the wurst-case scenario, as there were no injuries. However, the driver of the Wienermobile, or as they are called, "Hotdoggers," lived up to their title. Attempting a maneuver like that in the 27-foot-long hot dog that sits on a GMC chassis required some serious onions and also some poor judgment. The lane closure was certainly an inconvenience for native Illinois residents but pales in comparison to Oscar Mayer's new dilemma of only having five franks to cover all fifty states for the rest of the summer.
