Wolf Blitzer's Horrible, No-Good Sunday Funday

It was quarter to one in the Union Market district of Washington, DC, and long-time CNN reporter and anchor Wolf Blitzer was getting blitzed.

Wolf had ventured into El Presidente, a Mexican restaurant that had opened last September, to try his almost namesake, The Wolf Spritzer. This punny take on a traditional Aperol Spritzer subs out the Aperol for mezcal and uses a sparkling wine in lieu of prosecco and soda water. How did the 76-year-old CNN staffer enjoy it? Well, that is hard to say, as just an hour later, President Joe Biden would announce he had decided to bow out of the presidential race.

Shortly after that, Wolf would have to be in the studio to host a panel and discuss the unprecedented presidential move, looking every bit a man who had been in the midst of Sunday Funday when work called.

Drunk Wolf Blitzer

While I have never been the biggest fan of CNN, I now consider myself a Blitzer Boy. I know both of those faces all too well: pure buzzed joy to survival sobriety. I think it's safe to say that at one point or another, we have all been Wolf Blitzer, pulled from the depths of a drink to take on something unexpected that we were not prepared for. I certainly hope Wolf can get back and enjoy some beverages at some point, but with the current election landscape, he should probably hold off on the hard stuff until the second week of November. No worries, though, Wolf, the way this election is shaping up, the rest of America can pick up the slack and the bottle for you.
