Bill Belichick Joins Instagram
MyFace, YourFace, InstantFace… Belichick famously grumbled. The 72-year-old coach went to the well several times in press conferences to showcase his disdain for social media platforms. Now that the coach is no longer in the league, he has decided to change his tune, joining the social media platform Instagram today. Bill has seemingly been everywhere—from his weekly Pat McAfee hits to podcasts and even helping out his son’s defense for the Washington Huskies.
Earlier this year, following his "mutual" decision to leave the New England Patriots, Belichick surprisingly did not land another coaching position. Instead, he started dating a 24-year-old and has shown more personality in his first appearance on ESPN than he had in 20 years of press conferences. So, his decision to join Instagram is not exactly shocking, but it’s certainly ironic considering his past rants.
Personally, good for Bill! That man gave us so much as fans, and I’m thrilled about his decision to join Instagram. I’m hoping for all the cut-off hoodie thirst traps, Throwback Thursday Super Bowl posts, and duck-face selfies the coach can manage. I wouldn’t even mind if Belichick became a big-time meme story poster. Just hopefully, he’s not an “Insta inspo” guy. All the best to ya, Billy Boy—enjoy your InstantFace.
UPDATE The coach even poked fun at himself in his first post
